EXPERIENCE:
Twenty-four (24) years of experience in providing
direct counseling and psychotherapy. Seven years teaching psychology,
counseling skills and techniques at college and graduate level.
Eighteen (18) years of experience in community adult and adolescent
counseling centers, hospital programs for adolescent and adult,
domestic violence counseling centers, special education center;
was a contracted and approved counseling provider for Juvenile
and Adult Probation Departments; am a referral source for variety
of community and social service agencies; and am an approved independent
provider for several managed healthcare systems and employee assistance
programs including MCC, VBH, USBH, UBH, Cigna PPO, MBH, Metrahealth,
Anthem Health, Blue Choice, PacificCare EAP and Performance Plus.
SPECIALITIES AND INTERESTS:
Focus on adult and adolescent work: depressive
reactions, adjustment difficulties in mid and late adulthood,
personality issues causing difficulties in occupational and personal
functioning, anger related marital difficulties including jealousy
and infidelity issues and multicultural issues with special interest
in Asian American adjustment difficulties, computer/internet use
and abuse.
TREATMENT ORIENTATION:
Eclectic approach with a preference toward an
individual, directive and interpretative style, includes use of
short term/focused therapy as well as psychodynamic oriented approaches.
Prefer moderate term treatment duration although brief assessment
and intervention are provided when dictated by a client's goals
and circumstances.
